Even if you don't have a ton of natural light or windows in the playroom, you can use lights, light tables and lamps to set the tone of the room and encourage creativity. Create an amazing lightscape for shadow play, experimenting with colors, or just a calm space to relax, color or read. Consider layering light, by using light sources at different levels and heights. Try to have adjustable, dimmable light and add a reflective quality to your space; perhaps a mirror on the wall or floor.
